It Takes a Village

I feel like this blog post might be a smidge premature but… I am biting at the bit to get this fundraiser stuff started. I really wanted to come to y’all with a full calendar of fundraiser events dated and outlined. Instead, I’ll start with 2.

My sister has 4 kids between the ages of 2 – 10 years old. It seems like every time we visit each other I get a bag of clothes that her kids have outgrown. We have boy and girl clothes galore!

Last weekend Tim and I started going through the bags and boxes of kid’s clothes so we could pull out all of the newborn clothes. And then I had an idea…

There were a few of Luke’s baby items that we don’t plan to reuse as well as a few things that my sister had given us. I will take those items to Abilene’s bi-annual kid’s consignment event called “Dittos for Kiddos”! The event is the 1st week in October. So…any baby or kid items that you would like to donate, I will prepare to consign at Dittos for Kiddos (clothes, baby/kid hangers, toys, bedding, furniture, accessories, books, games, DVD's, electronics, etc.). Any items that don’t sell at Dittos for Kiddos will go to our 2nd fundraising event.

Saturday October 15th we will be participating in our Neighborhood’s Fall Garage Sale. We will be accepting donations from now until Wednesday October 12th. My goal is to no longer be able to park our cars in the garage because we have so many donations.

How You Can Help!

1. Donate! I want all of your stuff. :) I am accepting baby/kid items from now - Monday September 19th, and I am accepting garage sale items from now - Wednesday October 12th. I will even come pick it up…just send me an e-mail at lindseyakennedy@outlook.com or a private message through social media.

2. We’ll need help with extra supplies. We will need a lot of baby/kid hangers for the clothes going to Dittos for Kiddos (hangers will not be returned as they are sold with the clothes). We will need to borrow tables, basket, and clothing racks for the garage sale (all of these items will be returned).

3. Help! I would love help as I price and organize items for both events. We will also need help the day of the garage sale. I will have more information on dates/times you can help with these 2 things as they get closer.

4. Spread the word. We are happy to receive donations from your friends and family members who we do not know. We’ll take their junk and be so very grateful for it!

5. Shop! Shop at Dittos for Kiddos and {more so} shop at our Garage Sale. 100% of the proceeds received will go directly to our adoption fees.

Adoption is different from having a biological child in that all funds have to be paid up front. Your help will go so far and we thank you!
