Podcast Love

I’ll have to admit…I was a little late jumping on the podcast band wagon. But now that I’m on it, I love it and I ain’t ever getting off!
Before I understood the glorious-ness that are podcasts, I binge listened to Dave Ramsey on iHeart radio. I was working as an Adoption and Foster Care Specialist at the time and driving at least 1 hour a day, usually 2, 3, or even 4 hours a day. I’m sure I used insane amounts of data during this time in my life. Thank you Mom for letting me be on your business plan which has TONS O’ DATA!
A friend kindly {without too much laughing} introduced me to the sweet, little, purple podcast app that comes automatically programmed on your phone. It truly was life changing. I quickly subscribed to Dave Ramsey’s podcast and that’s as far as I got for a while.
At 9 months old, Luke became a great napper. He was taking 2, 2 hour naps every day. I love nap time! Though, I didn’t know what to do with myself when he drastically went from 4-5 45 minute naps each day to 2 long stretches. I was very productive during this time {and even snuck some naps in}, but after a few months I started going crazy. Because of his awesome sleeping, we could only leave the house for short periods of time and I felt completely isolated. A friend suggested that I listen to podcasts. I am now officially hooked to several and would love to introduce them to you.
The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey
My very most favorite is {The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey}. I feel like Jamie is my friend and I look forward to her show every week. I talk about her and the show so much so that you would think we spend time together every week….which I guess we kind of do. I was introduced to her show 47 episodes in. Episode #47 interviewed Jess Connolly of Naptime Diaries. I literally cried through the entire show…the entire show! Not because the content should have provoked that kind of emotion but I felt like I found my people. People who spoke my language, did and felt about mommy-ing the way I do, love God so much, and have great aspirations! I felt understood without ever having to say a word. So…listen, listen, listen!

Around the World with The Archibald Project
The second podcast that I’m loving right now I actually discovered by listening to {The Happy Hour with Jamie Ivey}. It is {Around the World with The Archibald Project}. Whitney and Nick Runyon founded The Archibald Project in order to highlight people, families, and organizations that are active in orphan care. The Runyons travel all over the world to help raise awareness about the orphan crisis, and Whitney takes beautiful and moving photos that can be found on their website and Instagram handle. Once again, these people speak my language and the stories they share are so inspiring.

The Dave Ramsey Show
Finally, I would be amiss not to mention {The Dave Ramsey Show}. This show got me started in the podcast world and I still listen to it on a semi-regular basis. Tim and I took Financial Peace University while we were engaged and newly married (we missed 2 lessons in the middle for our wedding and honeymoon). This program has helped us get on the same page financially, and listening to the podcast keeps me motivated as we work towards our short and long-term financial goals. You can easily learn the basic concepts of the program by listening to just 1 show as well as hear inspiring stories from individuals and families getting out of debt. I get totally pumped after each debt free scream!

There are others, but I will leave those for another time. What are some of your favorite podcasts? E-mail me or comment on Facebook or Instagram. I’ll take a listen and possibly highlight one of your favorites!
